Grey water contains a large amount of energy that can be recycled. With the help of grey water heat exchange, thermal energy is taken from the heated waste water (grey water) and transferred to the cold water on its way to the property’s hot water preparation. Previous solutions had a temperature efficiency of between 10-40%. At Consat, we saw the possibility of achieving a higher efficiency in heat recovery, reduced maintenance requirements, operational reliability and an easy installation; all on a very small floor space. That is why we have developed our own grey water heat exchanger GEISER®.

Area of use is all properties and industries that produce hot or lukewarm waste water with limited contamination such as bathhouses, food industry, laundries, but also newly built apartment buildings and hotels that can separate gray water from black water. Get in touch and we’ll tell you more!

The benefits of using our Geiser® grey water heat exchanger are many. Repayment period which is usually shorter than five years. Built-in energy meter so you get the grey water heat exchanger’s performance in black and white and can verify your investment and our promises. Easy to install (Plug & Play) and requires minimal maintenance which is also both simple and easily accessible.

In addition, Geiser® is designed to be installed in tight spaces. It occupies an area of ​​0.5 m2 and does not need more than two meters of ceiling height to be installed.

It meets recommendations according to EN 1717, is in the RSK database and is, of course, CE-marked and approved in every way.

  1. High stable temperature efficiency of 70% at equal flows.
  2. The energy meter’s information can be integrated into superior control systems with the option of setting an alarm limit in case of low energy recruitment.
  3. Bypass valve on the fresh water side allows you to determine and set the maximum pressure drop you want to allow across the exchanger.
  4. Integrated water lock.
  5. Knife valve on the grey water line which, when opened, backwashes the system clean of gravel and other larger particles and at the same time creates a bypass so you can easily perform service without downtime.
  6. Minimal maintenance! For optimal energy recruitment, supervision and cleaning are needed a few times a year. Open the top cover and make sure it’s clean and if necessary you can run the included wire whisk down each pipe to remove any deposits.
  7. The grey water heat exchanger is modular and can be constructed with different materials to function regardless of the chemical composition of the grey water (for industry).

How does heat exchange of grey water with Geiser ® work?

A Geiser® grey water heat exchanger can recover the heat from about 15 showers at the same time. By connecting several heat exchangers in parallel, larger flows can be handled. For example, a bath house with 350,000 visitors/year needs two units connected in parallel.

The heat from the grey water simply preheats the incoming cold water on its way to hot water preparation. It therefore requires less energy and lower costs to heat the water.
