Efficient heat recovery from greywater
Efficient heat recovery from greywater
Greywater is an underutilized resource with a high energy content that, in most cases, simply goes down the drain. Through efficient heat exchange, we can extract thermal energy from preheated greywater and transfer it to the cold water on its way to the property’s hot water system.
At Consat, we have developed our own greywater heat exchanger, GEISER®, which not only enables higher thermal efficiency in energy recovery but also has low maintenance requirements and minimal floor space.
GEISER® is versatile and useful in various property and industrial sectors that generate warm or lukewarm wastewater with limited contamination. Examples of such sectors include swimming pools, food industries, laundries, as well as newly constructed apartment buildings and hotels that have the ability to separate greywater from blackwater.
We welcome you to contact us for further information and discussion.
“We are incredibly proud that we have reached an efficiency of 70% at equal flows”

Areas of application for greywater heat exchangers
Areas of application for greywater heat exchangers
- Apartment Buildings (New Construction)
- Swimming Pools/Aquatic Centers
- Sports Halls/Gyms
- Industrial Applications such as the Food Industry and Laundries
- Hotels & SPAs
- Healthcare Facilities
The greywater heat exchanger preheats the incoming cold water for hot water preparation. This results in significantly lower energy consumption, reduced power requirements, and lower costs for heating the water. Read more about it and the history behind Geiser® and its inventors here.
What is grey water?
What is grey water?
Greywater is wastewater generated from bathrooms, dishwashing, and laundry. It’s important to note that toilet water is not included in the greywater category. Wastewater from toilets, known as blackwater, not only contains waste materials but also has a lower amount of thermal energy and requires different treatment. We recommend using only greywater from showers due to its high energy content and low levels of grease and dirt.
